Why Unhewn?

In Exodus 20:25, God commanded that His altar be built of unhewn stone, warning that “if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.”

In a world obsessed with polishing, filtering, and “feature engineering” our lives, this space is dedicated to the Unhewn. It is a place to lay down the tools of self-improvement and performance. It is a place to rest in the finished work of the Lamb.

Here, we do not fix ourselves to be worthy. We accept that we are “found objects”—loved not for how well we are chiseled, but for Who gathered us.
